Words of a writer

Tue Jan 3, 2006, 8:28 PM
At 21 years of age, I had never suspected that I would be working in a hobby store, although I had frequented this particular establishment for a good 10 years and have sunk thousands of dollars into this locally owned business. Well, I work there now, and I'd damn proud of it. I've rediscovered comic books in that time, and since I haven't boughten a comic in roughly the same amount of time I had been shopping at this hobby/toy store, I happened to notice the latest issue of NEW MUTANTS: ACADEMY X, I picked it up... I read it during working hours, highly discouraged by my employer, but it rekindled that love I had for the x-men and other marvel greats that I had when I was 11 and further spurred on by the recent movies, despite the inconsistencies with the story lines... In the past month alone, I've subscribed to almost 30 comics through my store, with titles like Dawn, Fathom, Soulfire, HunterKiller, Danger Girl 2, Necromancer, Street Fighter 1 & 2, Captain Universe, Mister Miracle, Infinite Crisis, She-Hulk, and other various titles, I've literally gone nuts with the comics...

But long before that, I was involved in a game of Silver Age Sentinels with a few friends of mine who played at a Game Night at my store after closing hours... I had developed a character in only 30 short minutes, picking a name quite literally at random based on a subtitle of a videogame I had seen on a shelf about an hour beforehand... However, the next 5 hours of gaming was the catalyst that caused my sudden interest in comic superheroes, and my writing took off. With this character, I had gotten over my writers block, which until recently was killing my creativity with crappy fanfics and the even more degrading bout with furries, but I won't get into that...

Suffice to say, I've found some wonderful artists who I greatly enjoy working with on this collaboration, since I can't draw for BEANS, but to everyone I've put on my watchlist, I enjoy watching your work for each of your individual talents. Keep up the awesome artwork.
